Just one month after graduating from Southeastern Technical College’s (STC) Practical Nursing (PN) program, every single member of that group passed their state tests and are now Licensed Practical Nurses.

While a 100% pass rate is an outstanding achievement, it’s not uncommon for graduates from the PN program at STC. The national average for passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) on the first attempt is 83.1%. However, both the Vidalia and Swainsboro campus routinely have a perfect pass rating.

“This is pretty special and we had a great group of students,” Rachel Sikes, Practical Nursing Instructor, said.

The NCLEX is a standardized test that each nursing graduate must take before becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. It is used to determine whether or not a candidate is prepared for entry-level nursing practice. Students must obtain their nursing diploma before taking the test.

Now that these graduates have obtained their diploma and passed the test, they are eligible to be fully employed in the practical nursing field.

“These students are kind, compassionate, hardworking and have proven their strength throughout the nursing program. I believe these graduates have the potential to impact the nursing field in a special way,” Sikes said.

The graduates of STC’s Summer Semester Nursing Program from the Swainsboro campus include Ariana Croft, Ali Deal, Alisia Johnson, Heather Johnson, Michelle Jones, Monica Moseley, Rebecca Prigeon, Rebecca Sonder and Chelsea Taylor.

The Vidalia campus graduates are Rebekah Anderson, Erin Brown Morgan Clifton, Michelle Davis, Brittany Garcia, Melanie Hosmer, Emily Plante, Nicole Powell, Audrey Tharpe and Ann Wooley.
