Betty J. “Peggy” Monroe, 78, of Metter died Sunday afternoon at home; she was a native of Candler County, and lived here all her life. She was a member of Metter First Baptist Church, enjoyed cooking, and tending to her family; and watching the Atlanta Braves play on TV. She was preceded in death by her parents Dessie Lee and Hazel Grubbs Collins.

She is survived by a son and daughter Dean (Lucy) Monroe of Metter; Deborah (Chip) Ansley of Athens.Also surviving are her brothers Wayne (Iris) Collins of Claxton, Billy (Gerelle) Collins of Statesboro. Grandchildren Jeremy (Tracy) Davis, Kelsey (Jamie) Davis, all of Athens, Blake (Kristen) Monroe, of Reidsville, Brett (Amanda) Monroe, of Metter; Great Grandchildren David Davis, Larry Davis, Abbigail Davis, Zachary Davis, Colin Davis; Dawson Monroe, Lindsay Monroe, and Lexie Monroe.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:00am at Kennedy Brannen Funeral Homes, Metter Chapel.

Visitation will be the morning of the service starting at 9am until time of the service. If friends would like to visit you are welcome to stop by Dean and Lucy Monroe’s anytime Tuesday.

Burial will follow at the Lake Church Cemetery in Metter.

Pallbearers will be the Grandsons.

Honorary Pallbearers: Staff and Friends of Grace Gardens.
