The Bulloch County Sheriff Office, Bulloch County Correctional Officers, Georgia State Patrol, Statesboro Police Department, and Deputy Marshals from the Fugitive Task Force have been actively searching for an escaped inmate, 34 year-old Benjamin Crapse, since just after noon today.

Crapse was assigned to a work detail located at the Bulloch County Landfill located off of Lakeview Road. Crapse was seen climbing the fence at the landfill and running into a wooded area.

BCSO deputies soon arrived on the scene and began searching the area. K-9 Units from the Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Prison system were still actively searching the area as of 2:30 pm this afternoon.

According to BCSO, Crapse is approximately 5’6” tall and about 145 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes.
