One Georgia teacher is on leave after a student videoed her use a racial epithet in the classroom.

Murray County High School teacher Jennifer Cooley is heard on tape puckering her lips while saying a racial slur, according to The Daily Citizen newspaper in Dalton, Ga.

The 10-second video shows Cooley sitting at a desk saying “n—– lips,” then people in the classroom begin laughing. Someone says “Do it again.” Cooley pauses then puckers her lips.

The incident is under investigation, but a spokesman for the school district has already said the district does not condone the use of racial epithets or the teacher’s behavior, saying “It’s inappropriate in any situation.”

No formal announcement has been made with regard to Cooley’s employment, but the district has promised to act swiftly on the “serious” situation.
