On Tuesday, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Swainsboro Police Department, Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office, and GBI in retrieving a wanted person out of Emanuel. The individual, 42 year-old Tony Lanard Williams, had warrants for murder and drug violations.
While BCSO was conducting a traffic stop of a vehicle that was believed to have Williams inside, the male passenger of the vehicle ingested illegal narcotics. The passenger was transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where he passed away as a result of the ingestion. Due to the passenger being in custody, GBI Region 7 was contacted and is investigating the death.
Williams was located at Woodrum Place Apartments, located off of Mobley Drive in Bulloch County. He was arrested by BCSO and the GBI without incident and transported to the Emanuel County Jail. Williams is being held without bond.
GBI agents also arrested 27 year-old Virginia Lafaye Brayboy of Swainsboro for harboring Williams. She is charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal. Brayboy remains in the Bulloch County Jail, pending further court action.
